Goa’s First Medical Waste Policy: Building Clean, Compliant, & Climate-Responsible Hospitals




In a landmark initiative, Minister Vishwajit Rane has rolled out Goa’s first dedicated policy for managing biomedical waste, covering every government-run hospital, PHC, and diagnostic centre.

·        Universal colour-coded waste segregation.

·        Monthly audits of hospital-level compliance.

·        Introduction of bio-waste incinerators in district blocks.

·        Capacity-building of sanitation and healthcare staff.

·        e-Tracking of waste from collection to treatment.

Goa Mourns the Passing of Former Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik

 Goa’s political landscape lost one of its senior-most leaders on Wednesday with the passing of Ravi Naik , the state’s Agriculture Minister and former Chief Minister . Naik, 79, suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence located around 30 kilometers from Panaji and was rushed to a private hospital in Ponda town , where doctors declared him dead around 1 a.m. According to family sources, Naik experienced sudden chest pain late Tuesday night. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, the leader succumbed to cardiac complications in the early hours of Wednesday.
