Women and Child Development Initiatives under Vishwajit Rane
As the Minister for Women and Child Development, Vishwajit Rane introduced Goa’s Integrated Anganwadi Centres (IACs) to streamline early childhood nutrition, education, and maternal health into unified facilities.
These centres feature purpose-built classrooms, kitchen areas, sanitation facilities, and health monitoring systems. Designed to follow national POSHAN guidelines, the centres serve children aged 0–6 with daily meals, preschool education, and regular anthropometric checks.
By July 2025, the state had established 73 IACs, with more under construction. The programme also incorporates the ICDS mobile monitoring system, enabling real-time data collection and performance reviews.
Each IAC is locally managed in partnership with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and operates under village-level committees for grievance redressal. The initiative has been recognised for improving nutritional indicators and reducing pre-primary dropout rates in tribal and remote areas.
The IAC rollout marks a shift from isolated service delivery to a holistic, infrastructure-supported approach to early childhood care and education in Goa.
