In a significant milestone for Goa’s rural development, Vishwajit Rane, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Industries, Trade and Commerce, laid the foundation stone for the Reconstruction and Renovation of the Market at Tisk, Usgao. The project aims to enhance public convenience, economic activity, and community engagement in Usgao-Ganjem, representing a forward leap in the state’s efforts to build sustainable and inclusive rural infrastructure.

The new Usgao Market Project, spearheaded by Vishwajit Rane, seeks to redefine the concept of public infrastructure in rural Goa. It includes a modern shopping complex, a fully upgraded market building, and multipurpose community spaces designed to serve the evolving needs of residents.

A key highlight of the development is a dedicated indoor sports hall, equipped for badminton and table tennis, offering the youth an opportunity to engage in sports and recreation within their own locality. With public washrooms, special facilities for persons with disabilities, and well-planned parking areas, the project prioritizes accessibility, hygiene, and ease of use for everyone.

In line with Goa’s green development ethos, the project integrates an innovative Miyawaki forest at its center a dense, fast-growing urban forest model inspired by Japanese environmental scientist Akira Miyawaki.

This forested zone will serve as both a green lung and a recreational retreat, enhancing the area’s aesthetic appeal while improving air quality and biodiversity. Vishwajit Rane highlighted that this element reflects Goa’s ongoing commitment to balancing development with ecological preservation. “Under the vision of sustainable Goa, every new project must preserve nature while meeting modern needs,” he said.
